Restores Navigational Safety Following Hurricane Helene

(Brooksville, FL) – In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Hernando County’s coastline sustained significant damage, including the destruction of critical navigation aids and regulatory signs that ensure the safety of local boaters and waterway users.

The Hernando County Aquatic Services and Waterways Department has worked diligently to restore these essential navigational tools. Since the storm, the department has successfully completed the installation of 24 new pilings and replaced 98 damaged or missing channel markers and navigation aids.

“Our priority has been the safety of everyone using Hernando County’s waterways,” said Carla Burrmann, Manager of Aquatic Services and Waterways. “Thanks to the dedication of our team, we've been able to restore order and help ensure safer travel along our coast.”
