THE CITY OF BROOKSVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT SUCCESSFULLY RESPONDED TO A RESIDENTIAL FIRE ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2025
Brooksville, Florida (February 20, 2025) – The City of Brooksville Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire at 514 Sharon St., Brooksville, FL 34601, at 7:11 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. With assistance from Hernando County Fire Rescue, the City Fire Department extinguished the fire.
When City Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene, District Chief LaChausse evaluated the building and determined that flames were showing from the bravo (left) side of the structure. Fire vehicles Engine 61 and Brush 61then made a transitional attack; they began extinguishing the outside of the building before moving inside.
Hernando County Fire Rescue Engine 11 provided a water supply from a nearby fire hydrant. Other Hernando County Fire units assisted by conducting both primary and secondary searches, after the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the residents of the home had self-evacuated.
A fire investigator from the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted the City of Brooksville Fire Inspector in investigating the cause and origin of the fire. The investigation determined that the cause was an overloaded electrical circuit. No injuries to the residents or firefighters were reported.
