DEP's Southwest District 2026 Environmental Stewardship Award

DEP’s Southwest District is now accepting nominations for its Environmental Stewardship Achievement Award, which recognizes businesses, organizations and local governments that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to protecting Florida's natural resources.

Eligible nominees in Citrus, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties must showcase proactive, innovative and measurable achievements that exceed regulatory requirements and provide direct environmental benefits in one or more of the following categories:
  • Reducing environmental impacts.
  • Conserving resources.
  • Enhancing ecosystems.
  • Remediating environmental impacts.
Additional consideration will be given to efforts that foster a culture of environmental stewardship, promote continuous improvement and growth of environmental programs, incorporate environmental education and outreach, and demonstrate innovation in environmental protection.

Nominations are due by Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. EST. To submit a nomination, complete the nomination form. Optional supportive materials (up to 10 pages) may be sent by email to Brian.Humphreys@FloridaDEP.gov and must also be received by Feb. 27, 2026.

Award winners will be recognized at the Southwest District's Open House on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Temple Terrace.
