New Residential Waste Provider Starts January 2, 2026
Residents invited to attend an upcoming open house
to learn about route and schedule changes
(Brooksville, FL) – Hernando County will transition to Coastal Waste and Recycling as the new residential trash, recycling and yard waste collection provider beginning January 2, 2026. This transition is part of the County’s efforts to maintain reliable, efficient solid waste collection for residents.
Public Informational Meetings Scheduled:
Residents are invited to attend one of the upcoming drop-in open houses to learn more about the transition, ask questions directly to County staff and Coastal Waste representatives, and attend at any time during the listed hours.

- You will keep your current blue trash bin and recycling containers. No bin exchange or replacement is required.
- Pickup schedules will be changing for some residents. New trash, recycling, and yard waste collection days will be announced at the open house events.
- Payment information for all residents who pay their trash bill quarterly will not transfer automatically. All residents who pay their trash bill quarterly must sign up directly with Coastal in January. Customers whose service is included in their taxes do not need to do anything.
- A brief adjustment period may occur. As Coastal Waste and Recycling begins operations following the Christmas and New Years holidays, the County asks residents to be patient during the transition.
