Hernando County Seeks Public Input on the
Post-Disaster Redevelopment Plan
(Brooksville, FL) – In July of 2024, Hernando County began the process of updating the Post-Disaster Redevelopment Plan (PDRP) as a part of a larger effort throughout the region in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties and the City of Tampa. Hernando County has seen many changes since the last PDRP was drafted in 2012, and the 2024 storm season has created changes we all continue to grapple with daily.
While many of us are still in the recovery process, it is important to continue planning for the redevelopment phase to come, and what we envision redevelopment to look like in Hernando County, leveraging the unique lessons we have learned following Tropical Storm Debby, and Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
In our first workshop, participants came together to discuss the purpose of the PDRP, and issues experienced from the recent post storm events. This workshop will share strategies on how redevelopment can support Hernando’s future. We plan to share strategies that may be adopted in the Hernando County PDRP.
Join us for workshop #2 on September 17th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, at the Hernando County Mining Enrichment Center, 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd., Brooksville, where we’ll review and rank recovery and rebuilding strategies as part of the open house event – making sure the plan reflects what matters most to you.
