Hernando County Announces Historic "Salute to America 250" Celebration for July 4th
 
Hernando County, in a landmark partnership with Florida’s Adventure Coast Visitors Bureau, Scouting America Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, the City of Brooksville, and several key community organizations, is proud to announce the “Hernando County’s Salute to America 250.” This once-in-a-generation event will take place on Saturday, July 4th, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the historic Sand Hill Scout Reservation located at 11210 Cortez Blvd Brooksville Fl 34613.
 
As the nation marks its semiquincentennial (250th anniversary), Hernando County is preparing to host its largest and most ambitious Independence Day celebration to date. This collaborative event brings together the expertise of the City of Brooksville, Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Hernando County Fire Rescue, the Hernando Historical Museum Association, Florida’s Adventure Coast Visitors Bureau, Scouting America Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Sons & Daughters of the American Revolution, Wedgemark Entertainment, Brooksville Main Street, Hometown Revival, and the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce to create a safe, patriotic, and unforgettable experience for the community.
 
This isn't just a Fourth of July party; it’s a moment to unite our community around the history and heritage that built our nation,” said Jerry Campbell, Chair, Hernando Board of County Commissioners. “By bringing together our city and county leadership alongside our first responders and civic organizations, we are ensuring a world-class celebration that is accessible to every resident.”
 
Event Highlights Include:

  • A Spectacular Evening Finale: A state-of-the-art fireworks display and synchronized drone show that will light up the night sky over the reservation.
  • The Recruit Ridge Family Fun Zone: A massive area dedicated to youth entertainment, games, and inflatable attractions.
  • The Heritage Hub History in Motion: Interactive activities and exhibits focused on the signing of the Declaration of Independence as well as Florida History hosted by local historical and library associations.
  • Entertainment & Eats: Live music and historical performances throughout the evening, accompanied by a fleet of the region’s best food trucks and local non-profit and artisan vendors.
 
In a commitment to the community, the Salute to America 250 will offer no-cost admission and free parking, ensuring that all families can participate in this historic milestone.
 
The event is officially recognized as part of the statewide celebration and will be featured on the America250FL and Florida Main Street platforms.
