Hernando County Government Holiday Office Closures and Trash Collection Schedules
(Brooksville, FL) – All Hernando County offices/services will be closed on the following dates in observance of the upcoming Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day holidays:
· Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in observance of Christmas Eve
· Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of Christmas Day
· Thursday, January 1, 2026, in observance of New Year’s Day
Hernando County Transit Services - TheBus:
Hernando County Transit Services (TheBus) will not be providing service on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of the Christmas holidays.
In observance of New Year’s Day, Hernando County Transit Services (TheBus) will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, and will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Hernando County Public Library System:
All branches of the Hernando County Public Library System will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, 2025, in observance of the Christmas holidays. The libraries will reopen at regular hours on Friday, December 26, 2025.
In observance of New Year’s Day, all branches of the Hernando County Public Library System will be closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026, and will reopen at regular hours on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Hernando County Solid Waste & Recycling:
All Solid Waste Facilities will be closed and there will be no trash, recycling, or yard waste collection on the following holidays:
- Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025
- New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026
- Christmas trash will be picked up on Monday, December 29, 2025, by Republic Services
- New Year’s trash will be picked up on Monday, January 5, 2026, by Coastal Waste & Recycling
- Christmas and New Year’s recycling and yard waste will be picked up on Thursday, January 8, 2026, by Coastal Waste & Recycling.
New Service Provider – Effective January 2, 2026:
· Republic Services will continue providing residential curbside collection through December 31, 2025. There will be no service on Thursday, January 1, 2026, due to the New Year’s Day holiday. Beginning Friday, January 2, 2026, residential curbside collection will be provided by Coastal Waste & Recycling.
