About the Safety Action Plan:

The Hernando County Safety Action Plan will assess local roadways and identify areas in need of safety improvements. Using a Safe System Approach outlined by USDOT, the plan will focus on preventing crashes and minimizing the severity of those involved. By aligning with federal guidelines, the goal is to improve safety for all users of the road – whether driving, walking, or biking.

Since 2019, Hernando County has seen a 24% reduction in fatal or serious injury crashes. However, between 2019 and 2023, over 300 people annually lost their lives or suffered severe injuries in traffic-related incidents. This project aims to reduce those numbers further and ensure the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors.

Together, we can make Hernando County’s roads safer for everyone. Your feedback and involvement will play an essential role in ensuring this plan’s success.
