Lowers Ad-Valorem Millage Rate Six Years in a Row
(Brooksville, FL) – The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) hosted the first of two Budget Hearings on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The Commissioners voted at the July 22, 2025, BOCC meeting to set the maximum milage rate for the General Fund to the rollback rate of 6.1650 for the fiscal year (FY) 2025-2026. This resulted in a .2847 reduction in millage from the previous year.
At the September 11, 2025, budget hearing, the BOCC voted to reduce the millage even further to 5.8891, resulting in another millage reduction of .2759. The BOCC has reduced the FY 2025-2026 General Fund millage rate by .5606 mills when compared to the FY25 rate. This is the sixth year in a row the BOCC has lowered the ad-valorem millage.
The General Fund includes the Clerk of Court, Property Appraiser, Sheriff's Office, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and programs and services provided by the BOCC such as emergency management, animal services, parks and recreation, facilities management, libraries, housing and supportive services, economic development, Veterans services, code enforcement, planning, zoning, extension services, administration and more.
