Hernando County Animal Services Resumes Normal Dog Operations

(Brooksville, FL) – Hernando County Animal Services (HCAS) will resume normal dog operations on May 21, 2024. Dog operations were modified on April 26, 2024, due to an upper respiratory pathogen affecting our canine population. HCAS followed directives from industry experts in treating our herd and have reached the recommended number of days with no new cases that supports a return to normal operations. Over 20 dogs had become ill; however, they have all successfully recovered. We would like to thank the public for their patience during our modified operations period. We are now ready to reopen adoption opportunities and because of the temporary hold on operations, capacity is high so we are eagerly looking for adopters.
