Utilities Department Open House
(Brooksville, FL) The Hernando County Utilities Department (HCUD) has completed the move into its new location at 15365 Cortez Blvd. in Brooksville (former Tampa Bay Times Building). An open house and tour is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
During the event, the recently hired HCUD director, Gordon Onderdonk, P.E., will introduce himself to the community and answer questions from the public.
“The new location allowed multiple utility departments to merge under one roof, housing 58 staff members,” Director Onderdonk explained. “The unity of these departments in one building offers our customers and associates the convenience of conducting business at one centralized location, where visitors can easily travel to and receive optimal service.”
Onderdonk, a former city engineer and public works director from Dade City, graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is a Florida registered Professional Engineer dual disciplined in civil and structural engineering. In addition, he is accredited by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design also known as LEED.
HCUD strives to provide uninterrupted quality water, wastewater, reclaimed water and customer service in an efficient manner to the Hernando County citizens that it proudly serves. Ensuring the safety of both its customers and employees, the Department is committed to regulatory compliance and ensuring low rates to its customers.
