Hernando Library Alzheimer's Awareness Event
This event, which is free and open to the public, will provide an overview about Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, and give participants an opportunity to ask questions about the memory diseases that now affect more than 6 million Americans, including an estimated 5,300 families in Hernando County.
Experts from the Alzheimer’s Family Organization, Coping with Dementia LLC, and Dementia Education Inc. will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about resources available to caregivers in Hernando and surrounding counties.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to see The Great Americans Alzheimer’s Awareness Photo Exhibit, a traveling display that features large framed portraits on canvas of 24 famous American artists, musicians, athletes, actors, politicians, and authors who have succumbed to Alzheimer’s Disease or some other form of dementia. The exhibit has been viewed by more than a half-million people in Hernando and other west-central Florida counties.
