The exciting 2nd Annual Hernando County Alzheimer’s Walk will be happening Saturday Feb. 22 in Brooksville, Florida. The event is part of The Alzheimer’s Association Longest Day initiative, supporting care and outreach programs through the Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. Attendees are invited to walk the two-mile route, while also enjoying over 20 registered vendors, and enjoying the sounds of ‘The Rogue Runners’, a high energy band featuring hit songs of the 1970s through today. Registration starts at 8 am and the walk begins at 9 am at Oakhill Senior Living, 7371 Cortez Oaks Blvd. More than 11 percent of Hernando County seniors are estimated to be living with Alzheimer’s, a progressive brain disease that impacts thinking, behavior, and memory. While there is no cure, new treatments have been shown to slow the progression of the disease in the early stages. People can register by going to this link, or contact Melanie Vreeland at admit.oakhill@tlcmgmt.com or 352.667.8859.
