Early Jazz Vocalists – Looking Back with Bernard Kaplan
(SPRING HILL, FLORIDA) – Revisit yesterday’s female jazz vocalists at the Spring Hill Branch Library with Bernard A. Kaplan during this series of programs. Mr. Kaplan has been devoting his retirement years to compiling and presenting special programs for seniors and other groups on popular music of the last century, focusing not only on jazz/pop vocalists, but also on Big Band swing, jazz icons, blues, dance, and retrospectives on famous or once-celebrated show business personalities of the 20th century.His presentations incorporate sound and motion picture recordings (many of them vintage), radio transcriptions, concert and television clips and interviews, and source material from autobiographies. He has presented at Elderhostel/Road Scholar programs, at OLLI (Oscher Lifelong Learning Institutes), Temple University, Penn State University, and at numerous community and senior centers in the Northeast and Florida.
This Female Jazz Vocalists series will include three separate programs at the Spring Hill Branch Library (9220 Spring Hill Drive) on the following dates and times:
