Are you a History buff or a fan of NPR’s StoryCorps? Do you have a relative or friend that tells fascinating stories that you wish you could record and preserve? Would you like to record your family stories to pass down to future generations? Your Hernando County Public Library System has the tools, resources, and experts to help you do just that!
Your Library has been creating an Oral History Video Archive of long-time residents of Hernando County called Local History Live and has made these videos accessible on our YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/HernandoLibrary/feed). Through this process, we’ve learned valuable tips and tricks that you can use to record your family stories!
Come to the DIY (Do it Yourself) Oral History program and learn about the value of recording oral histories and the basic idea behind oral history. You’ll learn how to conduct casual interviews with friends and family members as well as tips and tricks on interviewing, recording, storing, and sharing oral history interviews.
DIY Oral History will take place on Tuesday, January 6 from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Main Library located in downtown Brooksville at 238 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, Florida 34601.
