The short story by Jeannette Walls is about Walls' grandmother, Lily Casey Smith, and is written from Lily's point of view. Half Broke Horses depicts the freedom of rural life, its joys and struggles, and celebrates the courage and spirit of its protagonist. Jeannette Walls says the book is "in the vein of an oral history, a retelling of stories handed down by my family through the years, and undertaken with the storyteller's traditional liberties." Registration is not required, but copies of the book are limited. Please call ahead to reserve a copy for your use. For information, call 352-754-4043, or visit www.hernandocountylibrary.us
