Hernando Audubon Society and Citrus County Audubon Society are jointly sponsoring a Baby Bird Shower, on Saturday, April 30, 9AM – 1:30PM at Chinsegut Conservation Center: In spring and summer many young birds fall out of the nest or get injured in other ways. Fortunately, people who are federally licensed are able to assist these birds. Hope Wildlife Rehabilitation is one such organization, and funds and supplies collected at this event will be donated to Hope.
There will be bird and nature walks, a silent auction, "white elephant" sale, bake sale, free lemonade and iced tea, information on backyard birding, bird "adoptions," free fun craft activities for kids, and more.
Michele from Hope Wildlife Rehabilitation will bring some of the birds she has helped, for up-close views and education about the birds. The birds that will be available for viewing are Red-tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, and Barred Owl.
Admission is free, but please bring a gift from the wish list:
- paper towels "select a size"
- unscented facial tissue
- bath towels in dark colors
- Dawn original
- Simple Green cleaning solution
- laundry detergent and/or bleach
- Gift cards to Walmart for bait fish for Ospreys and waterbirds
- Gift cards to Home Depot for pressure treated lumber for cage repair
