Teepa Snow to address the impact of COVID at dementia conference
Teepa Snow, the internationally-recognized dementia practitioner, educator, and founder of the Positive Approach to Care, will be the keynote speaker at the 7th Annual Coping with Dementia Family Care Partner Conference on February 9, 2021, kicking off the four-day event with a description of the impact and ongoing effects of COVID on the national memory care industry.
Snow explains, “For nearly a year now, the world has been living in a state of emergency. One of the most negatively affected groups has been those living with dementia and all involved in their care, who have been strongly impacted by the demands for social distancing, social isolation, and disengagement from life as it was known.”
Snow will present practical ways to begin the recovery process for all involved, including methods of addressing the emotional trauma and supportive strategies for regaining skill and restarting routines for person-centered compassionate care.
Coping with Dementia President Debbie Selsavage, the organizer of the conference, states, “We cannot think of a better way of opening this event than to have Teepa Snow’s assessment of our difficult situation, and her message of hope for the future.”
