Hurricane Irma shelters in Hernando County are now CLOSED.
(Brooksville, FL) Hernando County Emergency Management is announcing all shelters have been closed that were opened for Hurricane Irma evacuees. In total, 5,267 residents were sheltered throughout Hurricane Irma. In addition, 736 pets were accommodated in 3 different pet friendly shelters.
 
Hernando County Emergency Management would like to thank the Hernando County School District for their commitment in an unprecedented sheltering operation. Their dedication and perseverance throughout this event provided for the wellbeing of all evacuated residents. We are humbled and very appreciative for all the staff, volunteers, and support personnel who sacrificed their needs and time to assist fellow neighbors, friends and the families at shelters throughout the county.
